Junior Youth Empowerment Program in Philomath
Philomath, 17 Sept 2008
Starting Thursday, September 25, a new Junior Youth Empowerment Program will begin open to all youth ages 11-15. The purpose of the program is to assit youth to develop a sense of responsibility, feel empowered for service, foster spiritual identity, create a moral structure in their lives, overcome peer pressure and develop the power of expression (by transforming thoughts, words and actions through study and service). The program takes place on Thursdays and Fridays from 3:05pm (after school) to 5:05pm at the Philomath Middle School, 2021 Chapel Drive in Philomath. Older youth “animators” or facilitators will be guiding the groups through acts of service to the community on Thursdays, and Fridays will begin with prayers, continue on to study materials and finally participate in social activities such as arts or cooperative games. There is no charge for participation. Anyone interested should download the flyer, fill out the information and contact Marya McDonald at 541-740-8895 or email at marya9@gmail.com. Enrollment flyers will also be available at Philomath Middle School.
